Dr. Keith Swanick is a native of Castlerea Co. Roscommon. He founded Swanick Family Practice with his wife Aislinn in Belmullet Co Mayo in 2007. The area of Erris has always played a special place in his heart as his Mum came from Ballycroy and many happy childhood summers were spent in Erris. Keith graduate from the Royal College of a Surgeons in 1997.
He gained invaluable post graduate hospital experience in the specialities of general medicine, respiratory medicine, rheumatology, orthopaedics, emergency medicine, paediatrics and psychiatry all of which laid very solid foundations for his future as a General Practitioner. Keith embarked on general practice training in Bridgend Wales. There he gained first hand experience in the NHS system in a large training Practice, Riversdale Practice, Bridgend. After successfully completing the General Practice training, Keith graduated was awarded Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners with Merit in 2003. In addition he holds a Diploma in Children’s Health and a Certificate in Travel Medicine.
Keith and Aislinn established the Practice in Belmullet in 2007 and developed a purpose built medical facility on Church Road Belmullet which opened as Swanick Family Practice in 2010. Keith also holds the position of Medical Officer at Belmullet District Hospital.
Keith has a special interest in his day to day Practice in Respiratory, Rheumatology and interventional joint injection therapy as well as Bone health complimented by on-site osteoporosis screening services. Keith continues his quest for learning and prioritises treating patients from a holistic approach whereby a medical prescription may not always be the answer.
Swanick Family prides itself, and is committed to, the importance of empowering patients in lifestyle, diet, nutrition and well being. We support this by incorporating services in the Practice such as, psychotherapy and physiotherapy as well as an extensive range of day to day services in the general practice setting.
Keith has recently developed a variety of scientifically formulated health supplements known as Dr Swanick Nutrition and he looks forward to sharing this in the very near future
